Working on an essay

About one of the underpinnings of liberty. It concerns the fact that man is a limited creature. Because man is limited, any and all attempts to arrive at "Utopia" will fail. Any political philosophy that relies on the "perfectability" of man will fail. Freedom allows for each one to chart his own course and make his own mistakes. The mistakes of an individual effect only a small segment of society. The mistakes of a flawed, limited human ruler in charge of a large segment of society bring down everyone.

What's it all about?

Speaking out about things that are fundamental to freedom. That is what it is all about. The entire direction of the Western Civilization, and America in particular, has been to bring about the freedom and autonomy of the individual human being. It seems to me, and many others, that this direction is being reversed by the forces of collectivism, progressivism, and so called "modernism."

Everyone that loves liberty is needed to work in whatever capacity they can. To those of us that can speak out, blog our ideas, etc., let us do so. All of us can vote, all of us can call our elected officials, all of us can work toward a greater appreciation in this society of the "freedom structures" (Constitution, the concept of rugged individualism, free enterprise,American pragmatism, etc.) that made America great.

I will try not to get bogged (blogged) down in day to day news stuff, but will write in the realm of the philosophical underpinnings of freedom (not to say that I won't , from time to time, make an application to current events.) I will strive to post my own thoughts as much as possible, but will, of course, quote others from time to time, as I see fit.

So, here it goes, one more voice in the babel of our tower of chaos called the Internet. Will it be heard? Will it make a difference? Time will only tell.
